EN ARMONIA is a non-profit company founded in 2008, dedicated to cultural activities and consulting support.
Among its
goals are:
- the organisation of artistic performances, including music, dance and theater performances and other artistic and cultural
activities;
- teaching different art forms and undertaking educational and cultural programs;
- the cultural education of performing artists and performing arts teachers on cultural integration issues through performing
arts, taking into consideration the need for integration of marginalised groups in the culture of the host country;
- the promotion of the cultural integration of marginalised youth and adults by presenting dance-theatre performances
inspired by the cultural heritage of Greece and dramatising Greek history, literature and philosophy, using the borderless
language of dance, thus teaching those marginalised people who don’t necessarily speak the Greek language;
- the promotion of Greek culture in Greece and abroad, through the creation of dance and dance-theatre productions,
which combine contemporary dance with other forms of performing arts (music, theatre and digital art);
- the development of capacity of dance teachers, dancers and choreographers in contemporary dance and dance-theatre;
- the creation of lectures, seminars, workshops and conferences related to the goals of the company.
All its members have international university education and career. Some of them have studied and worked in the U.S.A.
and some of them in Europe (Germany, U.K.).
Members of EN ARMONIA have participated in the creation of the following dance-theatre productions:
- “Eros-Hero”, based on a novel by Alexandros Papadiamantis. It was presented in Athens, in Skiathos Island
(Papadiamantis’ birthplace) and at the 6th International Dance-Theatre Festival in Erfurt, Germany, receiving excellent
reviews.
- “The Cave” (inspired by the allegory of the cave in Plato’s “Republic”) and “RHEI” (inspired by the concept of perpetual
motion in Heraclitus’ maxims and especially in his maxim “Everything Flows”), performed in theatres of Athens and in
theatres of the islands of Attica (40 performances), receiving very positive reviews by the Press and the general public. In
addition, these works have an educational character and have been performed in theatres for high-school students and in
multicultural schools.
- “The Murderess” (based on Alexandros Papadiamantis’ novel and funded by the Greek Ministry of Labour), which toured
in more than 60 festivals all over Greece. Special performances have also been given for high-school students. “The
Murderess” has also toured in 11 major cities in Germany, mostly in multicultural communities and multicultural schools,
where a lot of immigrant students from different countries study.
Members of EN ARMONIA have participated as teachers and trainers in two Erasmus+ Youth Mobility projects related to
cultural education and cultural integration issues (CETDT-2016, CITPA-2019). They have also been trained through an
Erasmus+ Adult Education program (“Training in Contemporary Dance-Theatre”, 2016).
EN ARMONIA cooperates closely with other cultural organisations and local authorities in Greece and abroad. The latest
collaboration of EN ARMONIA is with PROJEKT-IL GbR, a German theatre company, in the production of “Grandmothers
of the Universe”, a workshop series based on the research of an international collective of female artists from Düsseldorf
(Germany) and Athens (Greece) on the erased names and stories of their grandmother generation, at ZAKK Düsseldorf
(October 2019 to January 2020).
EN ARMONIA promotes the cultural integration of youth and students in multicultural schools, by participating in dancetheatre
performances dramatising elements from the cultural heritage of Greece (history, literature and philosophy).
In 2016, members of EN ARMONIA were selected to participate in an Erasmus+ Adult Education project with the title
“Training in Contemporary Dance-Theatre” through the national agency Greek State Scholarships Foundation (IKY). They
were trained in new techniques and methods of contemporary dance, taught by a German company specialising in
contemporary dance-theatre (Theater der Klänge).
In 2016, members of EN ARMONIA were selected to participate as trainers in an Erasmus+ Youth Workers Mobility project
with the title “Cultural Education Through Dance-Theatre” through the Youth and Lifelong Learning Foundation
(I.NE.DI.VI.M.), the National Agency for Erasmus+ for the Youth sector in Greece. Dance teachers from Greece and
Germany were trained in dance-theatre seminars, workshops and experience-based dance-theatre case studies. In this
project, dance teachers were taught how to teach youth the intangible culture of a place through dance and dance-theatre.
In 2019, members of EN ARMONIA were selected to participate as trainers in an Erasmus+ Youth Workers Mobility project
with the title “Cultural Integration Through Performing Arts Activities” (CITPA) through JUGEND für Europa, the German
National Agency for Erasmus+. The main aim of the CITPA project was to equip performing arts teachers (some of them
being immigrants and refugees themselves) with competences and methods so as to address the needs of marginalised
youth.
All the above testify the experience of EN ARMONIA in the areas relevant for this application.
