Studies:

He studied Architecture at the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, and in Los Angeles, U.S.A., where he received his Master’s degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from U.C.L.A. (University of California, Los Angeles).

He studied electronic music and composition for cinema at U.C.L.A., where he received his Certificate in Electronic Music with distinction, as well as blues guitar at McCabe’s (Los Angeles, U.S.A.).

He attended seminars in music composition for theatre and film (Los Angeles, U.S.A), as well as a seminar on the ancient Japanese instrument “sho” by Mayumi Miyata  (Athens, Greece).

 

Compositions (in chronological order):

  • “Evolution”, a composition selected and included in a compilation recording of the best electronic music of 1992 from around the world (produced by: International MIDI Users Group, U.S.A. – in this compilation he appears as Ionnix, artistic moniker he uses since 1990, particularly abroad).
  • Music for the documentaries “Ancient Forests” and “America’s Rainforest”, created to inform and educate about the ecological disaster by human activity (produced by: Forte Entertainment, U.S.A., 1992).
  • Music and songs for the theater productions: “Kapetan Mihalis”, based on Nikos Kazantzakis’ novel (1993), “The Tenth Muse” by Nick Gaitadjis (1994) and “Odysseus, Come Home” by Iakovos Kampanellis (1995), performed at the James Armstrong Theater, Los Angeles, U.S.A., under the auspices of the Hellenic University Club of Southern California.
  • The music theme for a multimedia presentation of the American Red Cross (produced by: Arts in Action, U.S.A., 1996).
  • Music for the performance “MI TERRA”, presented at Dance-theatre ANALIA in Athens, in Argos Festival and at the Medieval Castle of Lefkada Island, Greece (1997).
  • Music and songs for the dance-theatre productions of  ECHODRAMA Cultural Group: “The Murderess” (based on Alexandros Papadiamantis’ novel – 2001), “Memories of Olympia” (myths and historical facts related to the ancient Olympic Games – 2004), “Apollo-Amaterasu: Tracing Sun” (inspired by myths and stories about Apollo and Amaterasu, sun gods of ancient Greece and Japan respectively – this production was created under the auspices of the Embassy of Japan in Greece – 2006), “The Cave” (inspired by the allegory of the cave in Plato’s “Republic” – 2014, with a grant and under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Culture) and “Rhei” (inspired by the concept of perpetual motion in Heraclitus’ maxims – 2015, with a grant and under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Culture). These productions were performed at theatres in Athens (Michael Cacoyannis Foundation Theatre, Katia Dandoulaki Theatre, etc.) and at cultural festivals all over Greece. He toured with “The Murderess” in 11 cities in Germany, because of the live music of the performance (2011).
  • The music for the stage play “Tierra Muerta”, performed at 3 cities in Germany (Düsseldorf, Essen and Bochum), created by the German theatre company VER:play (2013-14).
  • The music and the songs for the dance-theatre production of  ECHODRAMA Cultural Group “Eros-Hero” (based on Alexandros Papadiamantis’ novel “Eros-Iros”), which was performed at Michael Cacoyannis Theatre (May 2017), at the Bourtzi Municipal Theatre of Skiathos, Papadiamantis’ birthplace, with excellent reviews by the local printed and electronic press (September 2017) and at the 6th International Dance-theatre Festival in Erfurt, Germany (September 2018).
  • Currently creating the music for Tanztheater Erfurt’s production of “Dazwischen das Meer”,

 

Concerts:

  • He has presented his compositions at several concerts and cultural events in Greece and in the U.S. He has toured with ECHODRAMA Cultural Group all over Greece (including a performance at the European Centre of Delphi, in the presence of the Ambassador of Japan in Greece) and in 11 cities in Germany. He has been interviewed and has presented his music at several radio stations in Greece, England and the U.S.A.

 

 Concerts-presentations:

  • He has presented his compositions in many concerts and cultural events in the U.S.A. (Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Hollywood, Malibu, Beverly Hills, San Diego), in Germany (in 11 cities with the performance “The Murderess”, as mentioned above, plus a twelfth one, in Cologne, for the presentation of his music for the stage play “Tierra Muerta”, which was also performed in 3 more cities in Germany) and all over Greece (more than 20 cities). One of the concerts in the U.S.A. was organised by Amnesty International.
  • He was interviewed and has presented his music in many radio stations (KPCC 89.3 FM in Los Angeles, London Greek Radio LGR 103.3 FM in London, ERA-2 93.6 FM in Athens and “Athina 9.84” 98.4 FM in Athens). Reference to his work has also been done in three Greek TV stations (ΕΤ-1, MEGA and ΑΝΤ1).
